About
the Orchestra
The Teesside Symphony
Orchestra is made up of local amateur musicians of at least grade
8 standard. Our aim is to give musicians the opportunity to perform
a variety of orchestral works and provide concerts in venues across
the Tees Valley. Our members range from students to music teachers.
We rehearse every Wednesday evening (excluding the first Wednesday
of every month) 7.15pm until 9.45pm from September to December,
and from January to May at the Trinity Centre North Ormesby. New
members are always welcome.
Our concerts feature
soloists that come from a range of backgrounds and experiences from
young musicians who have left the area to further their studies
in music, to established musicians from across the region or with
links to the region, currently working as professional musicians.
The Teesside Symphony
Orchestra is a registered Charity and is supported financially by
membership fees and by the funds raised at our concerts. The limited
funding available now to organisation such as ours, means that we
are more reliant than ever on increasing the membership of the orchestra
or support by sponsorship. We have been lucky enough recently to have recevied a grant for equipment from Platform who support the performance of clasical music in the Tees Valley. Further details on Platform can be found be clicking the logo at the foot of the page.
If you are interested
in either joining the orchestra or in sponsoring one of our concerts
then please go to the contact us page.
